The Veldt

New Deadmau5
Deadmau5 recently revamped his home studio and has decided to hibernate after a long tour, dedicating himself to his production. For “The Veldt” he streamed his writing & recording sessions live to give his fans some insight into the process. “The Veldt” was inspired by a short Sci-Fi story written by Ray Bradbury and from this Deadmau5 wanted “a somewhat melancholic yet uplifting audio image of kids bestowed with insane technology which enables them to conjure up any setting or any thing they desire which in this case, as children sometimes wish their parents were dead by an unfounded retaliation to being disciplined.” A day after the instrumental was released on his soundcloud, there were a high volume of people tweeting him about a vocal version. He took a listen and decided to incorporate the lyrics, as they were based off the short story and fit the mood. He messaged the vocalist, Chris James, and asked him to add another verse. The full Veldt EP is expected to be released soon and will include some remixes plus a new track, Failbait, featuring Cypress Hill. More EPs are scheduled to follow and a full length album is set to drop later in the year. Buy “The Veldt” here.
